Research activites

The science and technology objectives of this project are:

  • To understand and investigate the bio-inspired bindings suitable for non-organic materials.
  • To characterize the assembly process at the micro- /nano- scale (geometry, bonding forces, repeatability, etc.) using dedicated tools.
  • To develop tools and methods to selectively functionalize surfaces on which bio-molecules are attached.
  • To prove the principle of an assembled device using bio-inspired bonds.
The research is divided into three main activities. One studies the biobonds itself, the second one investigate suitable schemes to manipulate large number of mesoscale components and the third one develops a characterization platform to quantify and measure the effectiveness of the bonding processes.
